I’m trying to decide if it’s always a good idea to go shopping with friends or never a good idea to go shopping with friends. It’s especially dangerous when you hit up Target and they have just restocked the dollar spot.

Just recently Paula, Tauni, and I had one of these perfect storm shopping trips and ended up purchasing a collection of these adorable felt and flannel clutches (they call them a clutch, as you will see we used them for just about everything) and challenged each other to come up with a personalized way to use them.
I love the variety of options we’ve come up with and I love them so much I am feeling the need to keep all 4 of mine!! I am committing myself to giving away at least 2 of them because I think they make the cutest little gifts!
This first one I created is perfect for the holiday season, the red and black buffalo plaid with the silver glitter iron-on makes me happy every time I look at it. I do think this one make a darling clutch but it’s currently saving my life as my Christmas organizer. It fits inside my purse and is currently holding all of the children’s Christmas lists and receipts, not to mention the shopping lists. It’s so nice having them all in one place and I’ve gotten so many compliments on not only how cute the bag is but also the idea of a collection area for Christmas paper stuff.
My second clutch is inspired by our local High School (which is why it’s done in their colors). Every December they have what is called Silver Rush, for the first 3 weeks of the month they participate in a huge variety of activities to raise money for a charity. The amount of money raised is always awe inspiring, this year the charity is the Now I Can foundation, they help children with disabilities reach their full potential and greater independence. As Belle was telling me about the children they learned more about and will be raising money for I was reminded of this quote I recently read and knew it would be a great reminder for my little Lila who has some pretty serious perfectionist tendencies, she beats herself up if she doesn’t think something is perfect so I added a few of her art supplies to the clutch and reminded her “it doesn’t have to be perfect to be amazing” and her little face lit right up. I added a cute puff ball to the zipper to dress it up even more.
For my 3rd clutch I used another quote I love and it is fitting for so many in my family – bookmarks are for quitters. I’m happy to report that the majority of my children take after me when it comes to reading, they love it and its often best to just let them finish their book rather than interrupt them because they’re just going to keep sneaking in a few more pages. These clutches are the perfect size for a tablet or even a book and they have just enough padding to help protect the screen.
The last clutch is possibly my favorite because seriously, how true is it? Wake up, do all the things, repeat. It’s funny because it’s true! This one seemed perfect for a variety of mom things, iPad, sunglasses, pens, notebook, wallet, etc.

I used a collection of iron-on supplies – glitter iron-on, sparkle iron-on, iron-on lite, and foil iron-on. I love how they all look together and using the EasyPress to set them made these DIY felt and flannel clutch projects so simple to create.
Now I’m going to turn the rest of this post over to Paula so she can tell you about the DIY felt and flannel clutch projects she created, you’re going to love them!
When I was thinking about what I wanted to do for my clutches, I wanted to make sure that they would be something that would be cute but useful. Seeing as I have a two year old who is trying to potty train, and also have a baby on the way, I knew having a little diaper clutch would be perfect. These are the perfect size to hold a couple of diapers, wipes, some small plastic bags for soiled clothes and even a change of underwear and leggings. Since diapers aren’t exactly a fun part of being a parent, I went with “Messy Business” on the front of this clutch. It made it fun and cute!
For my other clutch, I decided that a catch all “Mom’s Essential Emergency Pack” would be perfect. The best thing about this is whether you give it as a gift or keep it for yourself, it can be customized for what each mom’s needs are. For mine, I knew some of my must haves were ponytail holders, bandaids, phone charger, chapstick, a notepad, pens, and tissues. These clutches are pretty roomy so you can put lots of stuff in there.
They are the perfect size for keeping in your car, tossing in your stroller, or having on hand when you don’t want to lug around your whole diaper bag. I used my Cricut Maker to cut out black vinyl and gold glitter vinyl with the sayings that I wanted. You can find my files here for Messy Business and here for Mom’s Pack. I also got to break out my Cricut EasyPress. I’m still amazed when I use it at how easily and quickly it sets the vinyl to my materials. So if you are looking for a cute gift idea, head over to the Target Dollar Spot and snatch up a couple of these clutches to customize.
