Minion Cupcakes!!! Despicable Me Party!

Today was Mr. M’s 3rd Birthday Party.  We’ll be gone on his actual birthday so we wanted to celebrate with family before we left.  He is absolutely obsessed with Despicable Me.  He loves it, he about has it memorized and could watch it day in and day out.  So there was no question the theme for his birthday.  I know I found this idea somewhere and bookmarked it but now I can’t find it.  As soon as I find it I’ll link it. (Found it!  Thank you Confessions of a Cookbook Queen for the great tutorial, as you’ll see we did a few things differently)

 So, here are the needed supplies:

<~ notice the tip – very fine pointed tip

<~ smarties!  You’ll need lots since I only wanted to use yellow and white

<~ a good ol’ cupcake

 <~ TWINKIES

<~ a skewer

This is how we did them, you may choose to do them in a different order but this worked well for us!

 <~ we used 2 smarties for each eye/goggle yellow for the base and white for the top.  Use a dab of black to stick the eyes together.

<~ Here we are – sticking them together

 <~ it’s a goggle!

<~ cut a twinkie in half

<~add more frosting to stick it on the twinkie

<~ LOOK, he has goggles

<~ see nice stand up goggles

<~ add straps to the goggles

<~ and a FUN minion mouth

<~now little dabs on the goggle for the eyes

<~ insert your dowel (make sure they’re not to long)

<~ smoosh your minion down on your cupcake

<~ they’re coming along
