Wooden Candy Corn Craft
This silly little post is a solid 2 years in the making. Exactly 2 years ago today (10/1/11) I started this Wooden Candy Corn Craft with my kiddos. Can you believe how little they all look? Angela and I decided it would be fun to have a craft for the kids to do while the husbands (and my oldest) were at the Priesthood session of conference. This seemed like a great one and I am so pleased with how they turned out.
Here’s how to make your own Wooden Candy Corn Craft
We started with a standard 2×4. Nate cut them into these flat topped triangles and then I went through and sanded them until they were nice and smooth and on each of them with a pencil I drew lines all the way around so the kids would have an idea of where to paint each different color. My youngest boy there in the front was just 3 when we did these and he had so much fun.
Here is what they looked like once the kids were done.
As you can see they’re not perfect but think about those candy corns we love so much…have you ever seen one that is perfect?….nope, me either.
Once they were all dried I attacked them with a sanding block.
I love the more rustic look of them being beat up a little bit.
Once I was done sanding I broke out my favorite Early American Minwax stain and gave them a little more distressing and that brings our finished project.
I love them. I love how they turned out, I love how the kids had fun helping me make this Wooden Candy Corn Craft, I love how they’re wooden so I don’t have to worry about eating them them breaking. They were SO simple, I highly suggest taking them time to make them, your kids will love them!
