How on Earth is it almost the end of July already? Summer Vacation is flying by so fast! Our lives are so out of control because we haven’t been home that we have no schedule. Yesterday Lila started crying at 3pm because she didn’t have breakfast…she slept until 10am and then had lunch at noon and was so tired because she missed her nap that she was crying because she didn’t have breakfast yet. Being the rock star mom that I am I couldn’t stop laughing!
We’ve been living the heck out of this summer already – a day at the beach, a stop at Angel’s stadium, a trip to Disneyland, a baptism, multiple camps for the kids, the water park, a two week Oregon vacation, and now we’re headed to a weekend trip to Bear Lake for a family reunion and that just gets us through July.
After spending most of the summer with my whole family coming home has been a rude awakening. I don’t deal well with goodbyes and after being together so long it was even worse this time. I’ve been reliving our times together and wishing we were all back in Disneyland. We were together there for the 50th Celebration and now for the 60th Celebration…I don’t want to wait all the way to the 70th to do it again.
There are so many aspects I can’t wait to share with you of all our traveling adventures. I was so happy to be able to join the rest of our family in Disneyland. The 60th “Diamond” Celebration was amazing. While we were there it was 106 and 108 degrees…insanely hot but worked out to be the a serious blessing for those of us who could only be there for two days. We were able to walk onto all the rides and get great seats for the parades and fireworks.
*Note* The staff at Disney are fantastic at dealing with the heat, at any time you can walk into a restaurant and get ice water. They were so great about it, they don’t want anyone overheating.
Scheduling 30+ people on a vacation as you can imagine can be crazy. To keep us all from losing it we set times to meet up and people did what they wanted in between. There were things we all did together – Goofy’s Kitchen for breakfast was a blast (and super fun that it was Father’s Day and we had two birthdays to celebrate too) and a great place to all be together. The workers (cast members) were awesome about getting Goofy for a full group photo for us.
*Another Note* – as geeky and touristy as they can look a fanny pack is far too awesome to have to let the appearance scare you away from wearing one. Hands free and nothing to have to worry about finding a cleanish place to set it down.
We decided the best way to spend time together in the parks and still get to do things was to decide on certain rides/certain events/certain meals we wanted to do together and set the times for them. Fast Passes were awesome for the times we were all together (Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Indiana Jones) and though there isn’t a fast pass for Small World it’s a great group ride (and a must no matter how much kicking and screaming some people may do!).
Oh I love Disneyland, I could go 10 times a year. I have never had a bad time in Disneyland but I’ll tell you what…being in Disneyland with my entire family is my favorite place to be…actually any place where we’re all together is my favorite place to be, I need to win a lottery that allows me to buy our own compound.
Do you love Disneyland? Do you have a favorite family vacation spot? I am looking to add one more place to visit this summer and would love recommendations!
