Today I was blessed with the opportunity to go with my older 3 little girls along with all my nieces on Nate’s side of the family, my sister, my sisters in law and my Mother in law to go see Mary Poppins. I cannot even begin to explain how wonderful it was. Honestly, there aren’t words. It’s funny because when Sue initially called to see if I wanted to go I was thinking “sure, I’m not doing anything else that day” and then we started getting excited about it. The girls were so excited to get out of school a little bit early and to get all dressed up to go out with the grown ups and then out to dinner. Their excitement pulled me in and by the time we got to Capitol Theater I was beyond excited.
Without a doubt my favorite of the play was Bert and seriously seriously I could watch them do Step In Time over and over and over again for hours and hours. It made me want to get up and dance along with them and we were all loving singing along. It was a wonderful way to spend time with the girls and I have no doubts that they’ll be telling everyone about it for a long time and will remember today forever.
Here we are in Capitol Theater right before the show started
(please forgive the crappy cellphone picture)
Here is a pretty great review of the show, I agree with pretty much all of it.
Now the girls are pretty sure that we have to go ASAP to see Wicked and Beauty and the Beast when it comes. I won’t be arguing with them…I guess it’s time to warn Nate to start putting money away for our tickets.
After the play most of us were able to go to dinner at the Olive Garden. Did you know kid’s meals at the Olive Garden are less than $5?! I totally did NOT know that so it was a very pleasant surprise. We got our own little room and the girls were SO good. We had 6 of the little girls with us 5, 6, 6, 8, 8 and 10. They enjoyed ordering their own food and most especially getting free refills on their drinks.
Here we are after dinner
Thank you to Grandma Sue for such a wonderful day!
I got a wild hair to be surrounded by happy little girls so I invited my 3 nieces that were still with us at dinner to come stay the night, then I decided it wasn’t really fair that the 1 that didn’t get to stay for dinner didn’t get to have fun with us all so I text her parents and picked her up from her grandma’s house and brought her home. We added 1 friend that is loved by all the girls and are having a full on party. Eight girls aged 10, 9, 8, 8, 7, 6, 6 & 5. They’re being so good! They’ve played pet-shops, the game of life, eaten popcorn, watched toddlers and tiaras and Marmaduke.
I have hopes that eventually they will sleep but we shall see!
All evening they kept saying things like “this is the time of our lives” and “I can’t believe we’re getting to do this”. I know they’re having fun and I love seeing them all together, it makes my heart happy.

Jenn how exciting i wanted to go and see Mary Poppins so bad. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. I wanted to answer your question about my link party hoo’s got talent. i just don’t want people to post directly to their etsy page. If you used or bought something from an etsy store and posted about it feel free to link up your post. Thanks for asking, Leslie
Leslie, thank you so much for getting back to me. I just wanted to make sure I was right in my assumption before I started linking things up.
Mary Poppins was so fantastic! Thanks again.
I love days like that, when you hear the kids make “best day ever” comments. I took my kids to MP a while back in Chicago. Max loved the part where Bert danced up around the ceiling or something. (Maybe I am remembering wrong. But it was something about dancing up a wall or in the air…)
you’re remembering right – it was awesome!
