I am SOOOOO thrilled that I made it past the 1st round of Blog Wars. I’ll be honest, I was seriously freaked out this whole weekend that I wasn’t going to make it through. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to all the people who voted and kept me in for the next week!
Now that the results are posted (click here to see if your favorites were voted through) I am allowed to share my project with you.
For the 1st week Provo Craft sent each of us a sheet of black glittery iron on vinyl (and a few triangles of teal and pink glittery iron on vinyl just for fun). I was so excited and so scared about what to do. Honestly, trying to think *outside the box* when it comes to any type of vinyl these days is HARD!!!
I headed to the store and found these 3 items. They were adorable on their own and I was determined to see if I could make them even cuter.
(tote from Target – $9.99)
(beach towel from Target $6.99)
(yellow shoes from Target $16.99)
I bought the bag, towel, and shoes and then got started with what I wanted to put on them. Using my Cricut I found the Life is a Beach cartridge and fell in love with the Anchor. I decided to use that and then added the “ahoy” using the craft room basic font for a little more *fun*.
Here is where I admit that doing the iron on ON the shoes was a little bit tricky! It wasn’t *hard* but it was a little tricky and took longer with the direct heat to get it to stick but once it was stuck it felt really really STUCK. In true JENN fashion I totally burned my knee with the iron, I swear (and my husband will back me up here) I cannot do ANYTHING without burning myself. Luckily I am pretty tough.
After the shoes, the towel and the bag seemed to go pretty quickly. I was thinking how fun this could be as a gift. A 12″x 19″ roll of glitter vinyl is $14.99 and would last through at least 3 projects like this. So, if you just did the towel and a bag and like a magazine or water bottle or something you could have this project done for about $20, not bad for a personalized gift right?!
NOW onto the next round. I am super excited because our supplies this week are FABRIC from RILEY BLAKE!!!!!
I have so many ideas in my head right now I just need some time to sit down and make them happen.
Wish me luck PLEASE and thank you again to everyone who came and voted (even if you didn’t vote for me) – the votes make it really fun!
Have a wonderful day…I’ve got to get my house clean, another BUSY week this week and today is my only day to be home and make things happen!
