Okay, I think we all have certain family traditions that get passed down. Some of those traditions are culturally or religiously based…some are just fun things that you’ve always done. One of my favorite traditions what that for Christmas Eve our family would always have dinner at our favorite pizza restaurant, Papa’s Pizza. Now I don’t love pizza (cardinal sin, I know!) but I loved that our whole family and a bunch of our friends would gather together, chit chat, laugh, play, and just enjoy ourselves. No stress, no dishes to wash, just a way to unwind before the excitement of Christmas! So you can imagine my surprise and happiness when Josh and I got married and he said that his family had the same tradition! I was so excited that while there would be other things in our married life that we’d have to take turns on and compromise on, this was one thing that would be a tradition to share with our children and pass on.
Me with my AMAZING siblings (and Santa) at Papa’s Pizza!
Another one of my favorite Christmas Eve traditions is new, Christmas pajamas! Even though we always knew it would be new pajamas, we loved getting to open one present early. Sometimes our jammies were standard, comfy jammies…other times they were silly or funny…and sometimes they were matching!
My silly little family last Christmas!
I love being able to share these simple and fun traditions with my children and hopefully they will pass them down to their children! Or at the very least they will remember (fondly I hope!) some of the fun things we did while they were growing up!
I’d love for you to share your family’s Christmas Eve traditions with us! What is something that you look forward to doing each Christmas Eve? Comment and let us know!
