Nate and I have now officially lived in our home for more than 7 years…for some reason though it still feels new at times and we’re STILL trying to get the house finished how we want it. Our poor walls are still bare from the last round of painting and there are rooms that still need projects finished before we can paint. It is quite literally a never-ending project!
One of the things that can hold us back is figuring out exactly what we want a room to look like when we’re done. Nate and I both have ideas of how we want the house and specific rooms to look, sometimes those ideas mesh well together and sometimes we need to do some serious compromising.
Personally I find inspiration for our home everywhere! There are many blogs out there with so many ideas I can get caught up all day looking at them. Then there is pinterest…heaven forbid I type in “living room” or “kitchen” into the search bar…my day is GONE! Every time an Ikea or Pottery Barn catalog comes in the mail it takes a lot of convincing myself that I don’t need to buy entire rooms of furniture and accessories, wouldn’t that be so much easier than putting pieces together to try to create a finished looking room?
Other places I find inspiration for the rooms in my home are TV shows and movies. I was recently watching an episode of Criminal Minds and there was a sitting room area that had two couches sitting right across from each other with a rectangular style coffee table in between them, I quickly wrote down the idea, I LOVED how it looked and am feeling the need to sell my darling curved couch so I can instead have that exact room set up!
House of Antique Hardware has an amazing Hobbit Movie inspired line of decor for your home. The movies are full of gorgeous patterns, from the clothes and locks to the keys and broaches they left nothing plain and House of Antique Hardware has taken some of those pieces and created their own that you can purchase (on their site) and put in your own home.
As I was looking through their Create your own House Under the Hill post at first I was thinking to myself “I don’t want to live in a house under a hill!” but as I was looking through some of their pieces I could see them in my home! You don’t need to be a hobbit OR want to live under a hill to love these items. I am especially drawn to the keys, locks, and that gorgeous chandelier!
Look how beautiful this is!
I can just see this on my front door, or maybe even on the door going out into the garage so I can look at it while I’m in the kitchen (always).
And here is the Chandelier I can’t get enough of
I think I’ll keep dreaming of it hanging in my entry way until I can convince Nate to buy me one.
For more of their beautiful Hobbit inspired pieces check out their post here. You’re sure to fall in love just like I did.
