Last Saturday we had a special event happen in our family. My daughter was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. If you would like more information click here. In our church this is a very special day and happens when you turn 8 years old.
I decided I wanted to do some decorations for the table but I didn’t want to go crazy or do anything over the top. I remembered I had made these cute little table centerpieces out of mason jars for another church activity and I thought it would be nice to reuse them. I decided to add the letters to spell out “CTR” (which stands for choose the right) with some chip board letters and I love how they turned out.
mason jar or any glass jar will work
scrapbook paper
dowel
glue gun
letters (chip board or sticker letters or cut them on your cricut)
tissue paper
ribbon or tulle
Next take your tissue paper and put it inside the jar and stick your flower inside the paper and fluff it up. You want to position the tissue paper so it is tight in the jar so stuff as much as you can so the dowel will stay. After you have done that you can take another piece of tissue paper and wrap around the jar and tie your ribbon around it. I made some where I didn’t put tissue paper around the jar and left the jar clear and it looked cute also. Tissue paper comes in so many prints now you can have a lot of fun with it. I added some tulle around the dowel and the jar. You could also use any kind of ribbon you have on hand.
These centerpieces were a lot of fun to make and you could use them for any occasion. You could make them for birthdays and spell out ” Happy Birthday” in the middle of the flowers. You could use Halloween paper and make them spooky for a Halloween party and with all the cute Christmas paper you could make some darling ones for table decorations for a Christmas party. The possibilities are endless with these cute little jars. What I like most about these centerpieces is they are really inexpensive to make and most of the items you probably already have around your house. So ladies I know you have stacks of cute paper that is just sitting in your craft room this is a great way to use some of that paper and have fun with it!
