Faux Leather Team Cuffs with Cricut

Faux Leather Team Cuffs Tutorial

It’s probably impossible to put into words how much I love watching baseball, especially if one of my children are playing.  This season my son’s team has been playing so well together as a team it’s been even more fun to watch them play.  As they’re heading into the playoffs this week I wanted to do something special for the whole team and I came up with these fun custom faux leather team cuffs for everyone.  With the help of my Cricut Explore Air I had them created in no time at all.
I loved seeing the smile on Cole’s face when I showed him his cuff and he was excited to give one to all of his teammates.
To make your own faux leather team cuffs you need just a few supplies:
Cricut Explore Air
Iron-On Vinyl (I used Foil Iron-On)
Cricut Faux Leather (I used the silver)
Snaps (we used size 16)
Iron
Faux Leather Team Cuffs assembly instructions:
In Design Space create a rectangle 8″ long by 1″ wide, cut as many as needed for your team making sure to adjust your settings for Cricut Faux Leather.
Once you have your cuffs cut you can cut out the iron-on vinyl.  I cut out his team name, I kept my letters right under 3/4″ so they fit into the measurements of the cuff well.
You will want to attach your snaps 1/4″ in from the edge of your cuff (my snaps came with the little blue tool to squeeze the, you might want have a soft mallet to tap it closed all the way).   You’ll want the stud part of the snap to be on the underside of cuff.  On the other end you’ll want the fastener on the top side of the cuff.  I added an extra fastener so the kids could adjust it for their wrist size.
The Cricut Faux Leather is just one of the many materials you can cut with your Cricut Explore Air.  There are other materials like real leather, chip board, aluminum foil, poster board, fabric, washi tape, craft foam, glitter paper, cereal boxes, aluminum cans, balsa wood, magnet material…basically if it can fit under the wheels of the machine, the Cricut can cut it!  And what’s wonderful about the faux leather is you don’t need a different blade, you can use a regular blade and it just cuts it twice to make sure you get a clean cut the whole way around.  We love trying out different things to cut with our Cricut and we’ll make sure to share all the things we do!
