To those who know us even remotely it’s quite obvious Paula and I are huge sports fans (we’re working on Angela…she’s getting there). The funny thing about being a female sports fan, you seem to be part of a club of sorts. It becomes easy to spot other like minded ladies and the awesome thing, there’s always something to talk about! While I enjoy sports year round there is a special place in my heart for football season. While many prefer college over professional I’m just happy to have a game on. I definitely have MY team in both pro and college but that doesn’t stop me from turning on any game if ones on just so I have some football to watch. I love that my cute kids are following in my footsteps. They love to cheer for our team and of course represent with our team colors. I’ve made some great friends through my love of sports and it’s fun to surprise them from time to time with little gifts only we would get. These Football OREO Cookie Balls helped make the perfect little gifts for my football loving friends.
I love the OREO Cookie Balls recipe, it’s a quick, easy, and delicious recipe that can be perfect for any gathering.
I was able to quickly and easily find everything I needed at Walmart which was nice because I needed to go there anyway.
Here’s everything you’ll need:
Ingredients:
- 1 pkg (8 oz.) brick cream cheese, softened
- 36 OREO Cookies, finely crushed (about 3 cups)
- 4 pkg. (4 oz. each) semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted
- Make it!
- MIX cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
- SHAPE into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan.
- CUSTOMIZE it with your own ingredient additions or decorative skills.
Optional ingredient: White chocolate for football laces. - REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm.
- Share and enjoy.
I love the way the box turned out and the way the Football OREO Cookie Balls fit inside it. Would you like to make one yourself? Here’s how I made them.
Starting with an 8″x 4″ piece of cardstock score 1″ in on all sides. I use a ruler and the back end of a butter knife to score cardstock (somewhere in my craft stuff that has been sentenced to totes in the garage I have a scoring board but this works well if you don’t have one). Cut in 1″ to create tabs. Using double sided tape assemble box.
To create the inside divider cut a 1 15/16″x 9.5″ piece of cardstock. Score at 2”, 2-7/8”, 3-¾”, 5-¾”, 6-5/8” and 7-½”. Using double sided tape assemble dividers and stick to the bottom of the box.
To create the clear box top I used Clear Craft Plastic. Cut a 7 15/16″x 3 15/16″ rectangle, score 1″ in on all sides. Cut out the square corner and fold edges in. Fill box with Football OREO Cookie Balls (and other OREO Cookie Balls) and place lid on top (sides tucked into the box). Tie with ribbon/accessorize as desired.
The Football OREO Cookie Balls are delicious, I used regular OREO Cookies for those. I used Peppermint OREO Cookies for the red OREO Cookie Balls (it’s nice to use school colors), oh my goodness they are amazing, I love the regular OREO Cookie Balls but the Peppermint OREO Cookie Balls knocked my socks off. What is your favorite type of OREO Cookie Balls? I can’t wait to try more flavors, here are some great ideas for future treat making.
