I’m not a super crafty person, but every time I go to The Wood Connection I get all excited and want to do every project they have! I see all the beautiful things they have and I could honestly go broke there. This time I settled on this adorable Santa Hat and Boots combo. It turned out adorable and I can’t wait for it to be time to decorate for Christmas!
One of my favorite things is how easy it was to put together. I was really intrigued about using Aleene’s True Snow and just loved how it all turned out. All of the wood items came packaged together, so I just picked out my paints and paper and was ready to go.
First I pained my boots black and my hat red. The trim and ball of the hat I painted white. I let the paint dry and then using wood glue, added my paper to my hat. Be sure that you trace your hat first onto your paper so you know exactly where to cut.
Next I added my rivets to the boots and used the wood glue to add the sole of the boots on. I used a nail file to distress the sole a little bit. While those were drying I added a little bit of glitter to outline my boots and painted my dowel black. Then I used the wood glue to attach the hat front on. After that I put my whole thing together so it would be ready once I add my True Snow.
Using the True Snow, I made my hat trim and ball look “fluffy”. This stuff is just so fun and I can’t wait to use it on other projects. Using a putty knife, crafting wood stick, butter knife, whatever you choose, spread some of the True Snow on the parts and use a swirling motion to give it the textured, fluffy look. It’s almost like frosting a cake or a cookie. You don’t want it to be smooth. Make sure you let the True Snow dry for a full 24 hours so that it doesn’t get smooshed or messed up. It gives it such awesome texture and I just love how it turned out!
The last thing I did was put all the pieces together and then tie the super cute ribbon on the dowel. I now have my newest Christmas decoration ready to go for this year!
I’m also super excited to share that we get to give away another $25 gift certificate to The Wood Connection! All you have to do is enter below! You’ll be able to use it to buy this cute set or another great holiday project!

Love it! Especially the simplicity of the boots. The true snow is pretty awesome. Could you add some glitter to it before its dried? Praying for a win ๐
Adding glitter to the true snow would be awesome!! I’ll have to try that!!! Hope you win!!
Those are adorable! I hope I win!
Thanks!! Good luck!!!

Aren’t they so fun?! Good luck!!
What a cute idea! I think I’ll make some new decorations this year. I’m kind of tired of the ones I have. But like you, I’m not very crafty, so I need easy crafts like these.
Where did you find True Snow?
They sell it at The Wood Connection if you are local, and you can also find it on Amazon http://amzn.to/1ml4SiR and I think maybe JoAnn’s. ๐ Hope that helps!
