You may recall this beauty that I picked up on our field trip at the local D.I.
Today we finally had warm enough weather that I could start on this project I’ve been dying to do.
1st I prepped the frame and the area. I carefully removed the painting to cause no damage to the frame, wiped down the frame to remove any dust and then laid down a nice big piece of plastic to be able to start the painting.
This is my favorite kind of spray paint. I LOVE the spray nozzle, no more finger cramps!
Here’s how the frame looked after 1 coat
And here is how the frame looks finished:
Then I broke out the lovely chicken wire. I used my wire cutters and clipped it about to size (a little big) and then stapled down 1 side. After I had the 1 side done I put on Nate’s leather work gloves and pulled the chicken wire tight and stapled down the other sides.
Once I had the sides all stapled down I used my pliers and bent the ends of the wire up so they wouldn’t poke anything and then I used my handy felt circles (you know the cheap little things you buy to put on the bottom of your chairs to protect your floors?) and put them along the edges to protect my walls from the chicken wire.
And here is the finished project with some of our many flowers already added ๐
(I do not take credit for coming up with this idea. I heard about it from a friend who heard about it from a friend, I’m not sure if she was the original creator or if she heard it from someone else. I just think it’s pretty much the prettiest way to organize the hair accessories of my 4 girls! I think I need to make 2 more for the other 2 girl bedrooms!)
OH! I should note that this project cost me a total of $10! I had the wire and the staples and the felt circles AND the paint so the only thing I bought was the frame
