Instant Pot Pinto Beans Recipe
We eat a lot of burritos in our house…like A LOT. It’s one of our go to meals because it’s easy and something that everyone loves. We always make sure to have the makings on hand for a burrito dinner, but while canned refried beans are pretty decent, nothing is better than homemade. Cooking pinto beans can take a while, so it takes a little planning. I was so excited when I got the instant pot because I knew that we could make them much quicker.
Easy Instant Pot Pinto Beans
This is one of the very easiest recipes you will make. And the best part is there is no work on your part!
5 cups water
16 oz (weight) pinto beans*
1 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Directions:
Add 5 cups water and beans to instant pot. Sprinkle garlic, salt, and pepper over the top. Stir with a spoon. Put lid on top and seal. Turn instant pot on high pressure for 50 mins.
After the steam releases, I use a bean masher to mash them up a little. But if you prefer whole beans just skip this step. Make sure the spices are to your liking and add more if needed.
*If you prefer to rinse your beans before cooking, do so. No overnight soaking is needed.
Wasn’t that easy? If you have eternally hungry kids like I do, make up a double batch of beans and keep them in the fridge for your kids to throw together a quick bean and cheese burrito to keep them from snacking all the way until dinner time.
