We love doing a Christmas Book countdown every year and are always looking for new books to add to our collection. (If you want to know more about our Christmas book countdown click here).
This year we decided to sit down and round up all of our favorite Christmas books to share them with you. A lot of these are Christmas books we personally own but some are ones our children have read at school or with friends that they loved and told us about.
From fun and silly Christmas books to touching Christmas books with meaning we know you’ll love these books as much as we do.
Is there anything better than cuddling up under a blanket and reading your favorite Christmas books by Christmas tree light?
We love how so many Christmas books teach children with touching and fun stories the joy of giving to others and how to look for opportunities to serve those they love and even complete strangers.
We want to know if your favorite Christmas books made our list of favorites. We would love to hear which ones you love the most and if your favorite isn’t here please share it with us so we can add it to the list.
In case you want to start a Christmas book advent in your family we found each of our favorite Christmas books on Amazon to make purchasing easy. You don’t have to buy new books though. Use books you already have, check out your local second hand stores, even visit your local library. What we love about the Christmas book advent is that you can start on December 1st even if you only have one Christmas book or you can start any day of the month you want.
Another great thing about the Christmas book advent is that it gives children something to open before Christmas day. There is a lot of joy that comes from opening a wrapped gift and sometimes the anticipation can be overwhelming for little ones. I promise they will love knowing they get to open a book each night. There is no need to buy all new Christmas books each year either. We pack our Christmas books away with our Christmas decoration so even Christmas books they’ve read every year are looked forward to each Christmas. If you want to take your Christmas book advent to the next level you could even include little activities to do with each book that is from the book. That could include making cookies for a neighbor, writing letters to loved ones, having hot cocoa with a candy cane in it, making magical reindeer food. There are so many ways to customize the Christmas book advent for your family. Do it daily, weekly, or even just the last few days before Christmas, it’s totally up to you.
We can’t wait to hear which Christmas books are your favorite and hope you will try this tradition in your own home.
