Our family loves little snacks that we can make easily and that the kids can help with. Because there is no baking involved, our Reindeer Food recipe is a great snack for the holidays!
You’re going to be able to whip this up super fast and it’s an addictive sweet and salty treat! Use a traditional Chex Muddy Buddy recipe and add some extra mix ins to make this yummy snack.
Reindeer Food
9 cups rice or corn Chex cereal
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar
Directions:
In a large bowl, add Chex cereal and set aside. In a medium, microwave safe bowl combine your chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Heat in microwave for 30 second increments, stirring in between until smooth. Stir in vanilla and pour over cereal. Stir until all cereal is coated. Put powdered sugar in a gallon size ziploc and pour cereal mixture into ziploc. Shake until cereal is completely coated in powdered sugar. Transfer to large serving bowl.
Mix Ins:
Dried Cranberries
Nestle Crunch Baking Bits
Tiny Twist Pretzels
Salted Peanuts, chopped
Red, White, and Green Sprinkles
I didn’t measure how much of each of the mix ins that I added. I knew because the muddy buddies are so sweet that I wanted to toss in some salty and tangy to balance it out. The sprinkles are fun to add in last to give a little extra holiday color. See…I told you it would be super easy! Feel free to mix up what you put in to suit the tastes of your family or the people you are giving it to. This would make a great neighbor gift too!
Muddy Buddies are a great treat to change up, what is your favorite way to eat them? Are you a traditionalist or do you like adding in fun ingredients to mix it up? Let us know in comments!
