As you’ve probably figured out by the bazillion pictures of us together Paula and I live right down the road from one another. It’s awesome, especially since the entire rest of our family lives far far away.
We have 3 brothers who all live in Oregon where we grew up with their families. We had SO much fun this past Christmas season all being together. I truly enjoyed snuggling all my sweet nieces and nephews I don’t get to see nearly often enough. I know the older ones know who we are pretty well, but the younger ones, I want them to know who we are too and what better way then to bring you to mind then sending gifts? 🙂 (I’ve always been all about bribery).
When we got home from Christmas the wheels in my head started turning and I decided I wanted to send something to them throughout the year and holidays are a fun time to do just that.
So this is what I came up with for Valentine’s day. I am hopeful that instead of just sending cookies they can possibly have a bit of fun as a family making their own.
In the box I included a bag of sugar cookie mix, a tub of frosting (that can be colored if they choose to do that), a bunch of fun Valentine sprinkles, and some heart cookie cutters.
I found some boxes just the right size and packaged them all up.
I added a Valentine to the box, taped it up, and set them on their way.
Here’s to hoping they’ll feel our love and have fun making (and eating) the cookies as a family.
What are some of the things you do to stay close to family far away (aside from emails/phone calls). I sure love my family, in a perfect world we’d all live on the same street!

You are a wonderful aunt. I too am not above bribery. I don’t live close to my brother and sister, so I like to send things to their kids so they will remember me and know I love them. I’ve sent them funny cards (for my nephew when he told me he finally had hair in is armpit), coins from around the world (for my other nephews who collect coins) and I make them each a Christmas ornament every year. One of my nephews just moved to NYC to model (he’s super pretty) and I have a box at the door, waiting for me to mail him tomorrow. It’s a nice thing you did. They will love it.
