Can you believe that Thanksgiving is only 2 days away. That gives you just enough time to whip up these cute little turkey treats. I’ve seen these turkeys floating around Pinterest for awhile and thought they would be fun to make for my kids this year for Thanksgiving. It would also be a fun idea to sit the turkey by their plate at Thanksgiving dinner with a tag attached with their name on it. I think it would make them feel so special! I know my kids are going to love them mostly because they are filled with candy. They came together so fast and I had a lot of fun making them. I think this would also be a fun craft to do with the kiddos after you have stuffed yourself with turkey and you just want to relax. You could set up a table with all the supplies on it and the kids could come and make their turkey throughout the evening.
Supplies you will need:
orange,brown and red pipe cleaners
white tulle
scissors
1 package of googly eyes
hot glue gun
tiny plastic hair elastics (I used my kids rainbow loom elastics since we have a million around our house)
1 15 oz. bag of Reese’s Pieces
First you will cut a circle about 8-9 inches out of the tulle. After you have cut your circle take a handful of candy and put into the center and twist it with the elastic and poof out the tulle to make it look like the turkey feathers.
Next you cut a piece off your brown pipe cleaner to measure around 7 inches. You will take this piece and twist it into a little circle kind of like a snail would look. Then you will cut a small orange piece and twist it onto the edge to make the nose.
Now time to make the feet. I found the easiest way to do this was to take the yellow pipe cleaner and fold it in half. At the bottom bend it again to form the feet then cut little pieces and twist them together to make the feet. Hopefully that makes sense. Here is a picture.
Then you will glue the feet to the turkey body and the googly eyes to the nose. To make the turkey’s wattle just cut off a small piece of the red pipe cleaner and glue it on by the eyes. Then you will glue on the neck of the turkey. And there you have it. How easy is that???
The finished product! Isn’t it so cute!
