We had a pretty amazing 4th of July here in Utah this year.
We were already having so much fun having our niece and nephews in town from Oregon for an extended vacation. The 4th was the last day we got to all be together here so we did it up big!
We started off getting everyone dressed in their Red, White, and Blue and then we started the paintings:
(I was having a little guilt that I was the only person who got something new to wear for the 4th so I was trying to make up for it by doing fun face (and arm) paintings…I think it worked!)
Once we were all ready for the day we loaded up and went to go see Despicable Me 2 – if you haven’t seen it yet – GO!
The Mother’s Day poem alone had me laughing so hard it was worth it!
After the movie we got together with all the family for an amazing bbq. While the adults were getting dinner together the kids made their own mini fruit pizzas.
No pictures of dinner – I was too busy eating it, but it was awesome. I love BBQ’s and Nate does it best!
While we waited for it to get dark the kids broke out my paints and painted everyone. The littlest ones had a lot of fun playing with the sidewalk chalk.
I also didn’t get pictures of the homemade frostys for dessert – my goodness they make me happy!
Then it was the fireworks!
(My niece had started me on fire (literally, I was ON FIRE) right before this picture…she’s lucky there is no hole in my sweater, now we have to hope the burn marks come out.)
I wanted a picture with my phone (you know…instant posting gratification)
The exploding firework turned everything red and all night long *and the rocket’s red glare* was stuck in my head.
(^proof she really did catch me on fire!)
We finally got everyone home, said a 2 day goodbye to the cousins, and had everyone in bed sometime after midnight. It was a WONDERFUL day.
