Halloween is always such a fun time. Costumes, candy, parties, fall festivals, pumpkins, and of course all the fun food! We’re sharing these spooky fun Bloodshot Eye Donuts!
Super creepy and super fun, right? Well, guess what? They are super easy too! When I saw THESE donuts on Wilton’s site, I knew I had to make them! I started with our Easy Donuts made from biscuits. For these ones I used the larger “Grands” biscuits. Make sure you don’t get the flaky layers biscuits, they won’t work for this.
Once those have cooled, I made an easy icing of about a cup and a half of powdered sugar, a few tablespoons of heavy cream (or milk) and about a teaspoon of clear almond flavoring. You’ll just mix those all together until you get a thick, almost paste like consistency. You want to make sure it’s not too runny or the whites of your bloodshot eyes will just run off. This works a little better than heated vanilla frosting because it’s firms up much quicker so you can decorate your donut.
Now to make your donuts creepy cool, you are going to need a few more items…
To make the eyeballs, I used Trolli Apple O’s with the black candies from the Haribo Berries. You’ll want to set the candies in the middle where the hole of the donut is before the icing has set. That will help hold the candies in place. After your icing has set use the Wilton Red Decorating Icing to make the bloodshot veins. I love the plastic Wilton Icing Tips, they are really inexpensive and screw right on the Wilton Icing tubes!
See, I told you they were easy! These will be the hit of the party, not just because they are creepy eyeballs, but because the taste delicious too. So hurry up and make these for your family to help usher in Halloween! Enjoy!
