Happy Saturday! Do you have any fun weekend plans? Ours are filled with soccer games, buying our Ski season passes (I’m not ready for snow yet!!!) and church. Hopefully/maybe we can get a few projects done around here as well.
I should start off with a huge apology for my pictures today. Not sure what was up but they’re not looking too great to me.
That being said this recipe has proven to be a crowd pleaser. My family (all 9 of us) loves it and so far I haven’t had any friends complain :). I’ve given the recipe to friends/family and everyone agrees it is really easy and YUMMY!
So here we go.
Ingredients needed:
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
2 packages of Italian dressing mix (the powder stuff)
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 package cream cheese (the box size with the tinfoil type wrapping inside)
about 1/4 cup butter
Fettuccine noodles (for this amount I usually do 2 of the 16oz packages)
(I doubled my recipe because I was making enough to share so it’s going to look like a lot more food in my pictures…just so you know).
Step 1:
Cut your chicken breasts into bite sized pieces, throw in pan with the butter.
Step 3:
Cook over medium/medium high heat until chicken is fully cooked, stirring often.
Step 4:
Put the chicken mixture, cream cheese & cream of chicken soup all into the crockpot.
It is very filling and very good warmed up for leftovers. (I promise they had salad and stuff with their pasta but T-man likes to load his plate up with each thing individually and before I forgot I used his plate for my picture).
As I mentioned in the title – it is VERY easy to make this on the stove top completely as well. Instead of putting the chicken and everything in the crockpot just do it all in your pot on the stove. I love doing it in the crockpot because it gets it out of the way earlier in the day and we can eat at 5 (or so) instead of starting dinner at 5 (or so).
Have a great weekend!!!!

I made this recipe tonight. Thanks so much to the author for sharing. Honestly, I felt this recipe reads better than it tastes.
I made the recipe on the stove. It took 2 cups of liquid to get the sauce to the consistency I liked. I only used one pkg. of Italian dressing mix. It was still really salty. Assuming what I made was 8 adult dinner/main dish sized servings(what it would be in my house), each serving contained 1109 mgs. of sodium. Had I made it the way the recipe is written, it would have contained 1429 mgs. of sodium. I don’t mind serving my family rich food on special occasions. To me this didn’t taste good enough to make it a “go to” splurge meal.
On the good side, the recipe made a lot of servings. My toddler liked it. I appreciate the good read but this one just didn’t fly in my house.
I’m sorry to hear that it didn’t fly at your house.

That’s sweet thx. It wasn’t bad, just didn’t get good reviews last night. *BUT* we just ate the leftovers for lunch. It was delicious! This tastes yummy after sitting in the fridge overnight. Seriously I’m headed back to the store to get the ingredients to make some more lol. I have guests coming for a week Oct.6th. I’m thinking creatively about using this as a base for a chicken bacon baked pasta dish. Thanks again for sharing. Love your blog. Hope everyone out there is having a great day!
I love having it for leftovers. I’m glad that it at least a little redeemed itself 🙂 I would love for you to let us know how the bacon pasta dish turns out because I’d love to try it! Thanks and have a great day! ~Jenn
Is it possible to cook the chicken/butter/dressing mixture in either a crockpot or a microwave? I’m going to be living in a college dorm room with no access to a stove.
It is possible but will add to the cooking time so you’ll need to get the chicken cooked and then start your time after that.
I love the pictures, it looks delicious! Going to have to try this for tonight’s dinner. One suggestion I would make would be if you could have a printable recipe so it’s easy to print out, or even a place on this page where you write out the ingredients and the directions without the pictures. That way I could just highlight it and print only the highlighted part.
Thanks for stopping by Katie, since I am not the cook on this blog I tend to make things not always user friendly, I’m working on improving my recipes. I’ll let you know when I get them cleaned up.
[…] post is actually making me giggle a bit. I shared this recipe here at Housewives of Riverton two and a half years ago and the pictures are a joke! What was I thinking? It doesn’t […]
How long should it be in the crockpot? I’m not seeing a cook time, maybe I’m overlooking it! Please let me know ASAP because I want to make it this weekend. 🙂
Hi Laura, It depends on how quickly you want it to cook. Since the chicken is already cooked, if you want to get it started early, you can cook it on low for 4-6 hours. If you need to cook it faster, you can cook it for 2-3 hours on high. We recommend on low because the longer the flavors have time to meld together, the better it tastes. Thanks!
