Ingredients to make Creamy Tuscan Chicken Pasta
Chicken
- 4 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
- 3/4 cup Flour
- 1 tsp Salt
- 3/4 tsp Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Dried Basil
- 1/2 teaspoon Dried Oregano
- (you can choose to use Italian seasoning if you prefer)
- 3 TBSP Olive Oil
Cream Sauce
- 2 TBSP Olive Oil
- 1 Red Bell Pepper, Chopped
- (you can add more if you want, I often add more yellow or orange)
- 1 TBSP Finely Minced Garlic
- 1 TBSP Flour
- 1/2 cup Chicken Broth (more if needed)
- 2 TBSP Butter
- 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
- 2 TBSP Corn Starch
- 1 cup Milk
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
- 3/4 tsp Season Salt
- 1/2 tsp Granulated Garlic
- 1/2 tsp Dried Oregano
- 6 oz Fresh Baby Spinach, chopped
- 1 cup Parmesan Cheese (grated or shredded)
Pasta of your choice.
Preparing Chicken
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Cover a baking sheet with tin foil. Spray with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
- Mix flour and all seasonings together in a shallow dish.
- Use a large skillet for both browning the chicken and preparing the sauce.
- Add olive oil to the bottom of the pan and heat over medium-high heat.
- Pat dry chicken breasts on a paper towel.
- Dip each piece of chicken in the flour mixture covering all sides.
- Brown each side of the chicken for 3-4 minutes.
- For juicy chicken do not cook all the way through, this can dry the chicken out while baking.
Place browned chicken on the lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until the internal temperature reaches at least 165°F.
I recommend using a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is completely cooked.
Preparing Pasta
In a large pot bring water to a boil.
I think you can use whatever pasta your family likes best.
I have used both spaghetti and linguini noodles and both were great.
Cook until al dente, don’t overcook.
Preparing Tuscan Sauce
While your chicken is baking and your noodles are boiling it’s time to prepare the sauce.
Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the same pan you cooked the chicken in.
Heat the oil over medium heat and saute bell peppers and garlic for 2-3 minutes.
Add 1 TBSP of flour and stir well for 1 minute.
Add chicken broth and butter.
Stir well until slightly thickened.
In a small bowl whisk together heavy cream and cornstarch.
Add heavy cream mixture to the pan and whisk well.
Add milk, seasonings, and fresh spinach to the pan.
Cook until spinach is slightly wilted stirring continually.
Add parmesan cheese and stir until melted.
If your sauce is too thick you can add a little bit more chicken broth to the mixture to thin it out a little.
Continue to cook over medium-low heat until ready to serve.
How to Serve Tuscan Chicken Pasta
Place cooked noodles in a large bowl and add half the luscious creamy sauce and combine well.
To serve, add noodles with sauce to a plate and top with cooked chicken. Spoon additional sauce over the top of the chicken and sprinkle additional parmesan cheese over it all.
This easy chicken recipe is filled with delicious Italian flavors. We’re huge fans. The recipe ensures tender chicken and by following the easy steps listed above you’ll have a delicious dinner on your dinner table in no time.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts?
Yes, you can, depending on the size you may need to adjust the baking time and I suggest trimming off the fat.
What is the best type of chicken to use?
You can use whole chicken breasts, thin cutlets, or even chicken thighs. For best results, it’s important to have the thickness of your chicken to be uniform.
You don’t want to mix thick and thin pieces or you could end up with overcooked or undercooked chicken.
What sides are best with this creamy chicken recipe?
Our favorites are crusty bread, green beans, a roasted vegetable, and/or a side salad.
Can I prepare this meal in an instant pot or crock pot?
I would not consider this an instant pot or slow cooker recipe. I believe the chicken and sauce are both best prepared on a stovetop.
Is this recipe good the next day?
I loved this recipe as leftovers. It was so good, I recommend storing the pasta and chicken separately and in an airtight container.
Can I use coconut milk and/or coconut cream?
I’m honestly not sure about this. I haven’t personally tried it and I’m not sure exactly how it would affect the flavors, etc.
I hope I’ve answered all your questions about creating this meal. If you have any additional questions feel free to leave them in the comment section below.
