One day, I think maybe I’ll remember to take pictures from the beginning of projects. I keep trying to remember and then don’t do a very good job at the whole thing.
The other day (a day that was nice and didn’t include snow, rain or insane winds – few and far between here in the lovely Riverton) GG and I got together to do some crafting.
I made this frame for sweet the baby’s room and could not be more happy with the end result!
First thing you need to do is pick a frame (since I’ve decided there is no reason to let the color or even what it is made out of stop me trift stores are my friend!).
I paid $2.00 or less for every one of my frames.
Then you need to pick your paper.
Luckily for me and the princess GG had found the most perfect black/white damask paper that matched perfectly the theme in her room.
I forgot to take a picture of the step where I put *modge podge* all over the frame and stuck the paper to it and then laid it paper down and used my xacto knife to trim the paper all the way around the frame.
Once I had the paper all stuck down I wanted to sand the edges, this helps the paper and the frame really look like one piece and it also roughs it up just a little which I like. I love to use a finger nail file for smaller projects like this, it gets in all the edges and isn’t big and bulky.
Next I used an old wash cloth (that I tore up into strips, I prefer to not wash and reuse these because I’m never 100% sure that it’s a good idea to put that in my washer) and my favorite stain *Minwax Early American* and rubbed it lightly all over the top of the paper and sanded edges of the frame.
The final step is a few coats of Modge Podge to seal everything in and make it nice and easy to wipe dust off.
I really REALLY love how this turned out and like I said really can’t wait until her room is done done so I can put this up.
