For an easy and cute spring project, make this personalized Decoupage Easter Bunny.
Decoupage Easter Bunny
Can you believe it’s already March? It feels like we were just celebrating Christmas. Being able to open my windows up last week and let the fresh air into my house got me excited for the warmer weather and just being outside more and planting flowers. But then I also remembered how my allergies do not like this time of year when everything is blooming so hopefully they are not as bad as last year!
The Target in the dollar spot had this cute bunny. That’s when I decided that I needed this bunny but I thought it was a little plain but I figured I could do something with it. Previously, I had seen people decoupage different things using pages from books. I thought it might be fun to try it on this bunny that was just sitting on my shelf waiting for me to do something fun to it.
Decoupage Easter Bunny Tutorial
Step 1: Find an old book you don’t want anymore and start ripping the pages into strips. I started with 1 inch strips but as I was decoupaging the bunny you will also need smaller pieces to cover up or go around the curves of the bunny and the ears.
Step 2: Next you will need a foam brush and some Mod Podge. Paint a good amount on the bunny and stick you paper onto the bunny. You want the paper to be pretty wet with the Mod Podge this helps it stick better to the bunny. After it’s stuck well down paint another coat of Mod Podge over it. Use your finger to smooth out any wrinkles on the paper.
Step 3:After all the paper was one I decided to tie some jute around it’s neck to dress it up a little. I will admit I like my Easter decor very simple lighter colors. I’ll just say that there is some really cheesy and interesting looking Easter decor out there! Yes I said it!
Using Decoupage for Decor
This bunny was really fun to do. I hadn’t really ever done anything like this before and I really enjoyed it. This project did take some time, so it definitely isn’t a 5 minute project. But if you take the time and do it right I think you will be happy in the end. I also think I want to try making some eggs and sitting them on the shelf by the bunny! I’m thinking off all the fun things out there you could decoupage!!
