DIY Wood Clover Block- St. Patrick’s Day

By Creative Housewives 3 Comments

I always feel like Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day are the forgotten holidays.  I know for me I decorate a lot for Halloween and Christmas and then Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day roll around and  I find that I’m lacking decorations with these 2 holidays. I know I will never have as much as other holidays but my goal is to have at least a shelf of decorations. Now that my Valentine decor is down I was antsy to get something else up so I headed to the Wood Connection to get inspired. If you have not been to this store you need to go check them out! They have a lot of fun things in their store right now!

After walking around for while I came up with this fun little shamrock block.

photo (34)First paint all of your wood pieces. I used Creamcoat craft paint in leaf green. Next cut the scrapbook paper the size of the wood block and Mod Podge it onto your wood.

photo (36)My favorite part GLITTER!!  Paint Mod Podge onto the shamrock and pour the green glitter over the top and shake off any extra glitter onto the paper.  Pour any extra glitter back into the bottle.

photo (39)I glued the clover in the middle of the wood block with wood glue and tied some ribbon and sparkly tulle around the top.

I sanded the candle stick base and glued it to the wood block.

I love how this turned out and how quickly it came together! Now I can add this cute decoration to my very small collection of St. Patrick’s Day crafts. I hope to change that soon!

Happy Crafting!
