Do you have a favorite game? I love to play games, Nate sadly not so much but the kids all love a good game and when we discovered Double Ditto they could not stop playing it. Double Ditto showed up in the mail the week before we were headed to the lake for a long weekend with cousins. I decided to keep the game closed up until our trip because while we love the lake there are only so many hours you can be out in the sun a day and I love options for the kids that don’t include sitting in front of a screen of some sort. When the kids saw the game they kept asking if they could play it, I’m glad I waited because they were so excited to play by the time we got to the condo that it was the perfect bribery for getting cars unloaded fast! They were not disappointed, they had so much fun playing that the adults actually had to be the ones to suggest getting swim suits on and heading to the lake!
What I love about this game is that they all quickly and easily figured out how to play and were able to start right away. They even were able to easily allow for Lila to play, she just drew her answers instead of writing them. Oh the giggling I heard coming from the kitchen! Another great thing about this game, there aren’t a ton of pieces you need to worry about losing which makes it a great option for when we head up to the condo or the cabin and it’s also awesome for groups of people. There are simple rules to the game (Read a card, write down 2 answers to the card, take turns reading your answer – if you match someone else you get 1 point, if both your answers match someone else you get 3 points – DOUBLE DITTO, the person with the most points wins the game.) but the kids were able, without talking to an adult, to adjust the rules for their whole group. Lila drew pictures of her answers and they let the younger kids have more than 2 answers written down so their chances of a match were higher too.
I love when an activity bridges the age gap, watching the 13 year old girls happily playing with their 11, 10, 8, and 5 year old siblings/cousins was a fun way to spend an hour or so each day!
I keep thinking of this game for Christmas gifts and birthday gifts because it’s perfect for all ages.

Here are a few facts about Double Ditto.
1. This is a great game to play in groups, because all questions are appropriate for all ages you don’t have to worry about filtering content for younger children.
2. Double Ditto is the 2016 Creative Child Magazine Game of the Year!
3. While the age recommendation on the box is 10+ you can easily make adjustments for the game so younger children could play. For instance letting a younger child draw their answer instead of writing it down.
4. Double Ditto is a fast paced game which is great for keeping groups of people entertained, you don’t have to really wait for others to *have a turn* which keeps things moving quickly.
