Today was a busy kind of day.
The kids are on a break from school for Fall Recess so we decided to get the kids together and do something for the day.
It is also the day I became the mother to a 13 year old. My first official teenager!!
He woke up a little after 6:00 this morning so he could set up his facebook account. He’s been wanting one for a long time because a lot of his friends have one but Nate and I stuck to our guns. We told him that as soon as he could have a facebook account without having to lie about his age to get one he could have it. Well, that day came today and he was so incredibly excited about it he couldn’t even sleep in on a day off from school. The other rules we have for him having a facebook account is that he has to maintain his straight A’s, everything has to be set to friends only and we have to have the password at all times. Thankfully he’s a pretty great kid so these things don’t bother him (too much).
We had his birthday dinner last night with the family and it was great.
For his birthday today we met up with all his cousins here in Utah, his Grandma Sue, Aunties Paula and Angela and spent the day at the Black Island Farms Harvest Festival and Corn Maze. Because there were 21 of us we got a great discount so the kids got to do everything. (If you’re local you should totally go, your kids will love it and by the end of the day they will be so exhausted they’ll just drop into their beds and sleep the night away.)
We finished up his birthday celebrations by going out to dinner at the Village Inn. The kids all love it and the birthday boy was excited to get to go out to dinner on his birthday and this time he didn’t have to order from the kids menu 🙂 I am pretty sure he’ll be going to a movie or something with his friends tomorrow or Saturday since he’s kind of out of the “party stage” until I am sure when he hits the big 1.6. and can invite girls again!
I truly cannot believe I have a 13 year old. I am pretty sure I am not old enough for that but I guess I am.
I am looking forward to a busy/crafty/fun weekend with family and friends. We’re going to take advantage of this “fall recess” and the beautiful weather we’re having and just enjoy it!
If you’re lucky enough to have both a fall recess and beautiful weather I hope you enjoy it!
