First things first – our Agnes and Dora giveaway has ended – go see if you won!!!
Now onto this AWESOME project!!!!
This past week Staci (of The Potter’s Place) and I had a little play date at Ikea. As we were walking through the store I came across this awesome clock (which sadly I cannot find on the website):
I immediately had an idea for a project for my oldest son’s room. I LOVE placing little thoughts/reminders around our house for the kids. Things they’ll see every day to uplift, inspire, and remind them of who they are and what their standards are. In our church young men and women are encouraged to serve a mission. Talon set that goal for himself years ago, to save up his money and go and serve. When I saw this clock one of our church songs popped into my head so I grabbed Staci and told her my idea. She didn’t laugh me out of the store and in fact thought it was a good idea so I decided to do it NOW.
With the help of Gena and the Cricut Explore my project is completed and I am SO happy!
Our church has missionaries all over the world so the clock was a perfect base for the saying AND the fact that it is incredibly lightweight means no nails in the wall, a small tack does the trick.
As we were working on it Gena had another missionary song pop into her head which ended up being a perfect idea for her son who is currently serving his mission in Mexico.
We got the phrase and the star all cut out and put on the clock. I love it! Gena is going to paint the hands black so they coordinate a bit more with the colors on the clock.
So what do you think? Best idea ever?!!! I sure think so. When we got home Talon very much liked his clock and put it right up in his room which means it is as much a success as it needed to be.
I would guess the project cost us about $15 total. The clock is a steal at $12.99 and the vinyl we had on hand but I’m sure you can get some pretty inexpensive if you need just enough for either of these projects. I think you should head over to Ikea NOW, pick up a clock and create a fun project. We were thinking even a phrase like “Time to Travel” would be so fun on this clock!
