Nativity Scene - a Christmas Eve Tradition 2011

I told you a while back about how every year we have the children act out the story of Christ’s birth.

Typically we do this on Christmas Eve but this year since we were going to be out of town we had them do it at the family Christmas party.

It was so great to see the kids take it so seriously this year. They’re all getting a little bit older and each year understand a little bit more about the reason behind what they are doing. They love to listen to their Grandpa tell them the story and to wait and hear about when it is their part of the story.

This year the 5 year olds got to play Mary and Joseph.

They took their parts very seriously and kept watch over baby Jesus.

As the story was read the Shepherds came to see the baby (and in some cases kneel before him).

Then we learned about the Angels who told of the glorious event.

Soon we had Wisemen as well coming to see the child.

Once the story was told we finished off with the children all singing “Silent Night”. I love their sweet voices and how excited they are to remember the true reason for this wonderful season which is of course the birth of our Savior.
