Patriotic Kids Fruit Spritzer

School’s out for SUMMER!!!  I’m so excited that it’s finally, officially summertime!  (Que up Will Smith “Summertime” song)  To welcome my kids home today on their last day of school, I made this delicious Patriotic Kids Fruit Spritzer for them to enjoy.  It’s super easy and you can make a bunch of the  ice cubes if you are planning a party or BBQ!

Patriotic Kids Fruit Spritzer

1 packet blue powered juice mix (blue raspberry, blueberry, etc)

1 packet red powdered juice mix (cherry, strawberry, fruit punch, etc)

Strawberries, chopped

Blueberries

Lemon lime soda

Ice cube trays

Prepare your powdered juice mix and as directed, but use only 2/3 the amount of water called for in the recipe.  This will make your juice cubes have a stronger flavor.  Add the chopped strawberries into your ice cube tray, and the blueberries into another ice cube tray.  Pour your red and blue juice into the respective ice cube trays.  If you are worried about sugar content, place the fruit in water and use a drop or two of food coloring to give it the red and blue color.  Place in the freezer until well frozen.

Place red and blue fruit juice cubes into a tall glass.  Pour lemon lime soda or soda water over ice cubes.  Another way to cut back on sugar is to use soda water instead of lemon lime soda.  This will give the drink the same fizzy taste but cut back on the sugar.  Garnish with strawberry and blueberry and serve.

My kids thought this was such a fun drink, and while it’s great for kids…my husband and I loved the taste so it’s a great summer drink for adults too!  Enjoy!
