Wow! It’s hard to believe June is almost over and we will be celebrating the 4th of July soon. I know the past couple of days have been really hot here so I have the perfect craft you can make while in the comforts of your air conditioned home, let me introduce you to my Patriotic Star String Art. Back in October I made a “Boo” string art piece that I loved. I really enjoyed making it and at the time I told myself I was going to string something for each holiday, sadly life got busy and that didn’t happen. Since October is only 4 months away I decided I should get on the ball and make something! I thought this star string art would be fun to add to my 4th of July decor and now was the perfect time to do it since it’s just around the corner.
The steps are basically the same as the Boo string art. The only difference:
I cut my wood into more of a square shape.
I painted polka dots onto the wood using a stencil.
It would also look really cute just left painted if you don’t want to do the polka dots.
After the polka dots were dry I sanded over the top of the wood to give it more of a distressed look.
I actually find stringing to be very relaxing! I guess the pounding of nails into wood isn’t relaxing and quiet but the actual stringing part is. I like the pop of color the polka dots add to my Star String Art and I’m excited by the way it all came together!
