Rustic Candy Cane Ornaments are fun and easy to make to give your Christmas decor a homey look.
This year I decided I wanted to change out my ornaments on my tree in my front room. When I was looking for different ideas for ornaments I realized that ornaments can be really pricey. I love the look of mixing twine and burlap together with my decor it has just enough of the rustic look but can also look classy at the same time. I came across this cute idea where they wrapped twine around a candy cane and I thought that was would be a fun idea for new ornaments so I decided to give it a try. The twine is really inexpensive and you can get a box of candy canes at the dollar store so I thought this would be a fun way to get some cute inexpensive ornaments knocked out for my tree without breaking the bank!
Rustic Candy Cane Ornaments Supply List:
box of candy canes
glue gun
twine
scissors
any embellishments to decorate the candy canes with (ribbon, flowers, bells)
Here is a tutorial of how to make the candy cane ornaments. While they are easy to make I learned a couple of things as I went along. Always start at the bottom of the candy cane when you wrap to prevent breaking since the top curves around it’s harder to hold while wrapping and I ended up snapping a couple in half. You also want to keep your twine very tight as you wrap. Also, when they are all completed try not to let them drop on your wood or tile floor because if they hit the floor just right they will break right in half.
I added some paper flowers in the middle of my bow and I also decided to decorate some with red and white ribbon and gold bells to match my other tree.
I love how they turned out and they blend perfectly with my other ornaments and they were so easy to put together. So don’t throw away those candy canes you have lying around your house put them to good use and make some of these darling ornaments for your tree!!
