We had a birthday party for Mister B yesterday. He turned 6 and is currently obsessed with Lego’s. I went back and forth about what to do for his party but with how busy the past few weeks have been I just hadn’t gotten anything firmed up so I was pretty happy when I went to the store on Tuesday to look at invitations and found that they had party supplies for Lego Star Wars. How is it that all boys love Star Wars and know everything about them even when I am sure the younger ones haven’t seen any of the episodes? He is no exception he LOVES Star Wars so it was a win win.
Sometimes it is just easier to not recreate the wheel so since he was pleased with the theme I just went with it. We invited a ton of kids so some of the stuff was easy to do ourselves while some of it was just cheaper and easier to buy already done.
Cupcakes by Paula and Thank yous by me. We went ahead and just purchased the napkins and the table cloth as well as the plates and squeeze its.
The banner had him really excited and because all kids love them I blew up like 60 balloons – oh my gosh why did I do that? I think I still have a headache, why does it always make behind my ear hurt to blow up balloons?
Here are the Thank Yous I came up with for the party. I think they turned out really cute and the kids all loved them.
I found the images online and then went into picnik (since they’re closing soon everyone can use all the premium features for free) and added the text. They each say “Thank you for coming to my party!!”
Since I already created them and have them saved if you’re interested in the files leave a comment here with your email address and I’ll send them to you. It was cute to watch the kids pick through to find their favorite character.
I printed them out on white card stock and then used my paper trimmer to cut them to size. Once I had them cut down I picked out different colored card stock that coordinated with the images and trimmed that just a little bigger than the original image. Then I just stapled them to baggies of candy. This was a great option for how many kids we had at the party since it always seems that the goody bags are the most expensive if you have to buy everything that coordinates from the store.
We had them on this little tray on the table and then once the party was over and guests were leaving Mister B was able to take the tray to the door to pass out the goodies.
Best parts of the day were seeing his big huge smile while he was playing with all his friends and then hearing his cute little friend run to her mom and say “That was the best party EVER!” We didn’t go over the top with this party by any stretch of the imagination but since they’re 5 and 6 years old I think they were just happy to run and play together.
