If your family needs a break from the same old breakfast options, you can whip up this tasty Triple Berry Topping to add to your waffles, pancakes and french toast!
Let’s be honest, mornings can be busy and hectic. Sometimes it’s all I can do to shove food at the kids as they are walking out the door. I’m trying to be better at having different options other than just cold cereal for my kids. I’ve found that making ahead some things makes it a little easier in the morning. I love syrup just as much as the next person, but I really wanted to have another option for my kids. I came up with this Triple Berry Topping that will add a little more fruit and a little less sugar.
Triple Berry Topping
1 cup strawberries
1 cup raspberries
1 cup blackberries
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup honey
Directions:
In a medium sauce pan over medium heat, melt your butter. Add your honey, then add your fruit. Let your fruit cook down and thicken. Pour into a bowl or jar and serve over your waffles, pancakes, or french toast. Cover tightly and store in the fridge, warm before serving. It’s a delicious, not overly sweet option for topping your favorite breakfast items! I can’t wait to try it with our aebleskivers!
Another tip to make your mornings go a little smoother is when you make pancakes, waffles, or french toast, make extra and freeze using wax paper to separate them. You can pop them in the toaster or microwave for a quick and yummy alternative to cold cereal. What is your easy, go to breakfast recipe? Are you a big planner who makes meals ahead or do you fly by the seat of your pants like I do? Let us know your best tips and tricks for an easy going morning in comments!
