For those of you who don’t already know I am a bit of a book lover. OK, “a bit” might be the world’s biggest understatement, I absolutely love to read, if I could figure out a way to turn reading into a career I’d do it in a heartbeat. I love to escape into a story and I think the very best stories are the ones I cannot put down. Thankfully my children have taken after me in this case. Nate isn’t a huge reader so I’m very glad that the kids took after me in this. To help foster that love of reading at the start of a new season and better yet a holiday the kids and I love to take a trip to the library and grab a collection of new books to read over the upcoming weeks. Over the nearly 17 years of parenting we’ve built our own rather impressive collection of seasonal/holiday books but I they always get more excited about the old stories when they have a few new ones to add to the mix. I thought I’d share some of our very favorite Halloween books for Kids. These are especially for Elementary School aged children.
I Loathe You is I possibly my favorite of this collection of books. I think Lila and I have read this book 100 times already this season and the other kids love it too. It’s such a cute book about loathing (love).
I Need My Monster is so cute. Ethan needs his monster but he’s gone fishing, whatever will he do?! Morgan has been enjoying this one over and over.
Boris and Bella are neighbors. They do not get along. What could ever bring these two together? Such a cute story.
Wow, it’s hard to pick a favorite. The Monsters’ Monster is also a wonderful book with a great message for all our little monsters.
Just like the 12 days of Christmas the 13 Days of Halloween is such a fun book.
OK, maybe this is my very favorite – Goodnight Goon (a petrifying parody) is perfect. If you love Goodnight Moon you will LOVE this book!
This post is getting really long so here are a bunch more fun ones without my thoughts on each one just know they’re all ones we absolutely love! Click on any photo to find out more about the book.
Here are some books for the older Elementary Schoolers. They’re quick and fun reads with all sorts of Halloween/Spooky goodness! While I love to sit and read with the kids it isn’t always an option, these stories are ones I’ve caught the littles staying up past bedtime reading in their beds. Again, click on any photo to find out more about the book.
Any of these Halloween books for kids are sure to get your little ones excited about reading and Halloween too. Do you have a favorite Halloween book? I would love to add to our collection so if you do, please share in comments. As the kids devour these ones I know we’ll need more and more.
