Fresh Peach Crumble
We have the sweetest neighbors who have this adorable little peach tree. Somehow this little tree produces about a million pounds of peaches. Okay, so that might be a slight exaggeration, but seriously…soooo many peaches! Luckily, they invited my boys to come over and help pick some, so we had three bags of peaches. Because I knew there was no way our family was going to go through 3 bags of peaches before they went bad. We decided to make a peach dessert. This Fresh Peach Crumble was so tasty, we literally had people licking the pan when it was gone!
I will tell you one thing about the Peach Crumble, our families LOVE the crumble topping, so I created this recipe with that in mind. It has SO much crumble topping! If you would like a more normal amount of crumble, you can half that part of the recipe.
What you will need:
Fresh Peach Crumble Recipe
Peach Filling
18-20 fresh peaches, peeled and sliced (will be approximately 6 cups of peaches when juice is drained)*
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup peach juice
4 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
*You can use canned peaches, just omit the sugar and make sure you still drain the juice.
Crumble Topping
1 1/3 cup rolled oats
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
How to make a Fresh Peach Crumble
1.Preheat oven to 375°F.
2.Peel and slice your peaches.
3.Next toss them with the 1/2 cup of sugar and let sit for 20-25 mins to let the sugar soak in.
4.Drain the peaches from the juice.
5.Combine flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1/2 cup of the peach juice.
6.Toss with peach slices until peaches are coated, spoon out evenly in a 9 x 13 pan.
7.Combine oats, brown sugar, flour, baking powder and cinnamon.
8.Add in your cubed butter and using a pastry blender or fork (or hey, even your hands if that’s easiest!) blend until only pea sized pieces of butter remain in the mixture.
9.After that, spoon out mixture evenly over the top of the peach mixture.
10.Bake at 375°F for 30-35 mins, let cool for about 10-15 mins before serving.
Top with whipped cream, ice cream, or just eat it by itself!
Like I said, we LOVED this Fresh Peach Crumble recipe so much! It was gone in just minutes, I wish I had made two pans of it!
