These Halloween homemade Oreo cookies are so easy you are going to want to make a double batch so you have plenty to share.
What are Halloween homemade Oreo cookies?
Our family loves homemade Oreo cookies. If you haven’t ever made them before you’re missing out. There are a lot of varieties out there but our favorites remain the cookies we make from a box of Devils food cake.
Two cookies sandwiched together with frosting in the middle, these are the things dreams are made of.
Holiday foods are a family favorite around here so I thought it would be fun to make a Halloween version of these cookies.
If you don’t already stock up on Devil’s Food Cake boxed cake mixes at your case lot sale you’re going to want to after you try this recipe.
How to make Halloween Homemade Oreo Cookies
To make Halloween Homemade Oreo Cookies you’re going to need the following ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 box devils food cake mix
1/3 cup of oil
2 eggs
1 can of cream cheese frosting ( I used the orange colored frosting in the can)
Only 3 ingredients plus frosting! How easy is that??
- Preheat oven to 350
- Mix cake mix, eggs, and oil. The dough will be thick. Do not add more liquid.
- Roll the dough into little balls, I make mine on the smaller size because I like my cookies more the size of an actual Oreo. I also figure the smaller you make them the more there is to eat.
- Place the dough onto a ungreased cookie sheet (you can use parchment paper if you like to use it).
- Cook for 8 minutes and then remove from oven. Let them cool for 2 minutes on the cookie sheet before moving to a cooling rack. They are a soft cookie you don’t want to over cook them.
- After the cookies have cooled spread one cookie with frosting, then sandwich with another cookie.
- To add the sprinkles I dumped them into a bowl and rolled the frosted cookie edges into the sprinkles.
When my children saw these cookies after school they could hardly wait for me to take photos. They wanted to eat them right away.
These are so fun because they’re easy to get creative with. Pick different frosting colors or a variety of different sprinkles and they’ll be a perfect dessert for a Halloween party!
