Ah, the holidays! November is here. Did I really just say that? I feel like it can’t be passed July! We’ve been having a beautiful Fall and because of that, it doesn’t exactly feel like Fall. But looking ahead at the weather we’ve got some wonderful, cool weather coming our way to begin our transition into winter. I love that the holidays are just around the corner and preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas is just so much fun! That’s where this Homemade Cranberry Sauce comes in! It’s the perfect addition to your Thanksgiving meal. No table is complete without cranberry sauce. Now I won’t fault you if your favorite cranberry sauce comes in a can, but I really think you should make this delicious homemade version!
Homemade Cranberry Sauce
1 – 12 oz package of fresh cranberries
1 – cup of water
1 – cup of sugar
1/4 – cup apple juice
zest from 1 orange
juice from one orange
On the stove in a small pot, dissolve your sugar into your water over medium heat. Add fresh cranberries, apple juice, and orange zest and juice. Let simmer on the stove until almost all of the cranberries are burst, stirring occasionally. Let cranberry sauce cool slightly and transfer to a bowl. Let chill in fridge for 2 hours or until it’s time to serve. Enjoy!
I was truly surprised how easy this cranberry sauce was to make. It has a perfectly tart and sweet taste that will be delicious with any rolls or even left over turkey sandwiches!
