Valentine’s Day Jello and Pudding Dessert

By Creative Housewives 1 Comment

I’ve always seen Valentine’s Day as a day to show my husband how much I love him…but when you have kids, you don’t want to leave them out!  I don’t go overboard on Valentines for my kids, I usually just do simple things to make the day just a little more special.

One of the things I do is let them pick the dinner they want.  It’s usually something super easy like mac and cheese or pizza.  But then I also make a special dessert.  It doesn’t have to be anything super fancy and this Valentine’s Jello and Pudding Dessert is perfect for kids!  By putting it in my “fancy glasses” the kids think it’s super special!

1 large box of Strawberry Jello

1 large box of vanilla pudding

2-3 drops of red food coloring

6-8 fresh strawberries for garnish

Whipped cream for garnish

Sprinkles for garnish

First you are going to want to make the jello according to the directions on the box.  Using a measuring cup, add 1/2 cup of jello to your glasses.  To get the tilted look, I used an egg carton and the wall of my fridge…cause I’m high tech like that!  But you can also just layer them straight.

Once your jello is set, make your pudding according to the directions on the box, then add a few drops of food coloring to the pudding to give it a pink color.  My pictures are taken with my cell phone at night…so it kind of looks more peach-ish.  But feel free to make it as pink as you want!  Just don’t add too much food coloring or it will make the pudding taste funny.  Carefully spoon your pudding into your glasses until it is just even with the top of the jello.  Keep in your fridge until you are ready to serve.  Right before serving top with whipped cream, strawberries and sprinkles.

Minimum effort, maximum props from happy kids!

Now if you don’t want to mess with doing the jello and the pudding, you can fancy up your jello just by putting it in a fancy dish, top with sliced strawberries, whipped cream and sprinkles!
