We were so excited to be asked to review the Six Sisters’ newest cookbook. We are HUGE Six Sisters’ Stuff fans and we couldn’t wait to get our hands on this cookbook!
Well, we got our hands on it and for the past month it has been our constant companion! The day it arrived I sat down with a pen and paper and made out my grocery list so I could try a few new recipes over the upcoming weeks, I know Paula did the same. Between us we’ve tried out a large portion of the cookbook and can say with complete confidence you will love this book! I personally love the way it is laid out, instead of being laid out like a traditional cookbook with categories they have laid this book out as a 52 week menu plan. Each week has a main course, side dish/drink, and a dessert so if you wanted you could very easily try out an entire new meal once a week for a whole year.
Over the past few weeks we’ve tried so many of the recipes. My family loved the Grilled Pineapple Porkchops (review here), I think they are my favorite so far.
Paula made and shared with us the Nutty Caramel Bars (review here) and oh my goodness she’s not joking when she says don’t start eating them because you won’t be able to stop!
Oh wait, I might have lied, I think the Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas were my favorite. My whole family devoured them, I think for sure they were my favorite (even if I didn’t get a picture of them!). (Page 24 of the cookbook).
We also made and loved the following:
Crispy Onion Chicken (page 31)
Slow Cooker Creamy Spaghetti (page 46)
Creamy Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes (page 89)
Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese (page 117)
Baked Seasoned Steak Fries (page 155)
Cheeseburger Casserole (page 222)
I want you to think about it for a minute…when was the last time you bought a cookbook and over the course of a month tried 9 of the recipes in the 1st month? I have never done that before. I have 5 more recipes marked and ingredients bought to try over the next couple weeks. I love that these recipes are so family friendly. I have good eaters in my house and they still can be picky, The Six Sisters know what they’re doing, they know how to make family friendly meals and they know how to keep it simple. My 13 year old daughter has loved going through the cookbook deciding recipes she wants to try and make, I love that she isn’t scared of it, it’s written in a way that is easy to read and understand, even if you’re new to cooking!
Our final review is this – two thumbs up, 5 stars, whatever else you may say to show this book is well worth your time and money! I promise you won’t be disappointed!
