So remember that time I bought WAY too much angel food cake? Even after I made the Stuffed French Toast Casserole I had left overs. While I was thinking about what to do with the extra, I remembered on Cupcake Wars how one guy fried the tops of his cupcakes to make them into churro cupcakes. I figured I could do that same thing with the angel food cake. Just cut it into bite size chunks and fry it up, after that I swirled it around in some cinnamon and sugar…it was delicious! The outside was nice and crunchy, while the inside kept the awesome, spongy angel food cake texture. I HAD to share with my family and Jenn and Gena cause I knew I would eat them all by myself if I didn’t spread the churro love! I was thinking these would be super fun for a circus themed birthday party!

(Photos and Recipe by Paula from The REAL Housewives of Riverton )
2/3 angel food cake ring, cut into bite size squares
1/3 to 1/2 cup vegetable oil for frying
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
pinch of nutmeg (optional)
pinch of ground cloves (optional)
Heat your oil in medium sized shallow pan over medium heat. Fry angel food cake, using tongs to turn so that each side gets fried. In separate small bowl, mix together sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Drain on paper towels and then toss in cinnamon and sugar mixture. Enjoy!
